The climate comparison
Palm Beach's climate is one of the closer year-round matches to coastal Southern California on the Eastern Seaboard: December lows in the high 60s and ocean swimming into October. Florida doesn't carry the wildfire-driven insurance costs that have affected coastal California properties in recent years; it has its own separate windstorm and flood insurance requirements tied to hurricane exposure.
Getting there
Direct flights connect Los Angeles and San Francisco with Palm Beach International, and East Coast routes from Palm Beach — to Boston, New York, Washington, and Atlanta — are widely served nonstop.
Northwood Harbor and the broader NoMar area of West Palm Beach combine newer low-rise residential buildings with outdoor-oriented layouts and existing streets near the Intracoastal. The Mandarin Oriental Residences, among the developments underway there, share an architecture and design team with Mandarin Oriental's Beverly Hills and Bal Harbour residences.
Palm Beach island itself is largely built out, with new inventory concentrated in resale and renovation rather than ground-up construction; West Palm Beach, across the bridge, has more active new-construction development.
